Delve Deeper @ The Washington, August Bank Holiday Sunday 28/08/11 [part 2]

Delve Deeper – Global House Music

Tramlines over, and how good was it? Loads going on, so good to see Sheffield like that….moving on and looking towards the August bank holiday Sunday, we are proud to return to The Washington.

Our event there back in April was a big success, huge turnout and a good time was had.

Thinking forward, we have decided to change things slightly, this time, with it being August, we expect warm weather? We hope. So, we are going to put a P.A. system, along with DJs outside, on the terrace, bringing the party to the sun.

Once again, we have put together a line-up of some of the best DJ’s Sheffield has, covering U.S. house to deep house, we present…

Igloo at Bar27 Saturday 30th July 2011

Tramline’s has been and gone and we are all left to recover, piece ourselves back together and ponder on where to take things from here. This got me thinking…What were the best bit n bobs from this weekend that I want to see again?, so here goes:

+Free for all (inc. Okie!)
+Cheap drinks offers
+Bloody great House music
+Trying out new places that I wouldn’t normal venture to.
+Friendly sociable vibe
+Sunshine!

Sadly Sheffield doesn’t seem to want to combine any of the above together this weekend which is why my inner voice said ‘Fuck it do it thi sen’ which is what I’ve gone and done!

So here’s what gowarn:

When: Saturday 30th July 6pm -1am
Where: Bar27

Music: House with some sprinklings of Tech and maybe even a dashing of Disco

DJ’s:

Carl Dean (Igloo)

Nic James (MIS / Deep Hype Sounds)

Paul Woodhouse (Deep Hype Sounds)

Ollie V (Indigo Records)

Deep In The House

DeepInTheHouse

If ever there was a time to be playing, listening or simply dancing to house music it is right now.
House music is currently riding the crest of a huge wave that proves once again that when all is said and done… house rules the roost in club land.
While house music is no new thing to Chesterfield with many events coming and going (often standing the test of time, building a hard core following) – it is now the turn of some new blood to bring their own deep tech vibes to Chesterfield.

House aficionados will be pleased to hear that new spot Bar Envy have enlisted the services of some of Sheffield’s finest selectors, enter Carl Dean (Igloo) and Danny Brown, to get things off to a flying start. Add Big Daddy with his vast collection of house, disco and everything between along with young guns Sean Doughty and Mark O’Binch and its safe to say DeepInTheHouse’s debut event is a throw down not to be missed. And best of all this entire event is absolutely FREE!

Acts on the night;

Carl Dean
DJ, Promoter (Igloo, Sheffield) and all round house nut Carl has just returned from a stint on the White Isle and is raring to get his teeth into his first proper gig since he landed back in the UK. Expect rolling tech house of the highest order.

Danny Brown
Hailed by Dan Whyles, promoter and booker of Sheffield underground house and techno party ‘Cargo’ as one of the best up and coming talents in Sheffield. Danny keeps it deep, chuggy and most importantly REAL! Proper house music for heads down, hands up antics.

Sean Doughty

Mark O’Binch

SPEKTRE visit Collect! at DLS. Massive.

It’s not long until the mighty Spektre will be invading our stage at DLS.

This should prove to be the best one to date my friends, Spektre really suit the Collect! sound and playing live, with this being a rare hometown gig for one half of the duo they are sure to smash it.

They have been prolific releasers of music on a myriad of quality labels which I strongly suggest you check out instead of reading a load of guff two fingered into a keyboard by me. They have numerous brilliant tracks including five releases in the last month. The obvious ways of doing it are like this:
https://www.beatport.com/
http://www.myspace.com/spektre1
We’ve had a lot of top acts grace our little stage by now and we’ve loved them all but I have a particular feeling on this one.
Local deep merchant Carl Dean will be joining the party, on before Spektre, Carl has always been a favourite of ours and never disappoints.
There’s a buzz around at the moment and we plan to do nothing but build.

There are reasons why we believe we have the friendliest most up for it crowd in the city, come and see what they are!

Here’s what some extremely famous DJs have to say on the matter. Just for the record, I am aware that DJ Mag isn’t a DJ.

“The homegrown producers tipped to give Berlin’s minimal crowd a run for their money”
- DJ Mag

“Spektre have been one of the most consistent and solid production outfits in recent memory and I, for one, have become a huge fan and supporter of their sound. Whether they are producing mad, peak time bombs, or setting dancefloors on fire with their awesome live sets, these guys are definitely ones to watch and a bright shining light for the shape and sound of techno to come!” – UMEK

“Spektre’s productions consist of solid techno that really remembers the rave. Music that is cool but also fun and highly danceable. This guys are just going to get bigger”.
- James Zabiela

ROB SMALL (SOULMAN MUSIC/EVASIVE RECORDS/BREAKOUTAUDIO)

with residents CARL DEAN and MATT FURNESS

———————————————————————————————————

Let us to bring you up to date with Rob’s journey so far…

At the tender age of 19, he started his own night, ‘Friction’, which was held at one of the UK’s most infamous underground clubs, ‘The Mint Club’. It was at this night where he showcased not only his own talent but some of the finest talent to come from the North of England.

At 22 Rob was featured in the underground music magazine ‘Traffic’, in which he was featured for his efforts with Dj’ing and music production. Rob has gone on to play all over the world, alongside names such as Damian Schwartz, Matthias Tanzmann, Jamie Jones, Robert Dietz, Tim Sheridan, Mike Monday, King Roc, K-Klass, Sarah Main, Steve Mac and many more.

Fast-forwarding to 2008 sees Rob become the A&R of one of the north’s most vibrant and original label’s, ‘Breakoutaudio’. The label has accomplished more in 18 month’s than most labels do in a decade having a string of exciting releases from Paul Woolford, Audiojack, Deepchild, JulienChaptal, Emerson Todd, Pier Bucci, Mistress De Funk and Deadset.

Breakout Audio has also gained support from the industry’s leading lights and has hosted label parties across the world in some of the best venues, including ‘La Terrazza’ in Barcelona, ‘Back To Basics’ in the U.K and events at the WMC in Miami this year.

Rob has been releasing his own production material on labels across the world, such as Soulman Music, Cubism, Evasive Records, Electronic Petz, Breakoutaudio, as well as becoming a prolific remixer on countless other imprints.

In a short space of time, his productions have gained support from the likes of X-Press 2, AudioJack (2020 Vision), Nils Nurnberg (Dessous Recordings), Motorcitysoul (Coccon), Carlo Lio (Rawthentic), Jet Project (Viva Music), Murray Richardson, Dj Simi (Sci+Tec Digital), Serge, Ty Tek (Briquerouge), Tim Andresen, Henning Richter (Beef Records), Terry Francis (Fabric), Rob Pearson (Evasive Records) and Chloe Harris amongst many others.

Rob’s tracks have devastated festivals, clubs and warehouses the world over and with many more productions about to be snapped up by some of the best labels, you can see why we are rather excited about having him down with us for this one.

Support will come from your genial residents, Carl Dean and Matt Furness.

Delve Deeper & Friends – Tramlines 2010

Delve Deeper & Friends, Tramlines 2010

July 24th sees the return of the hugely successful Tramlines Event.
Last year, Devonshire green was turned into a mini festival, with huge stage and impressive line-up all day long. The bars and clubs surrounding the area were also packed full, with individual sub events happening, creating an amazing atmosphere and truly memorable weekend that we had not experienced in our city before.

This year, the event looks set to be bigger and better than the previous year, with more prolific names, more events and a bigger buzz making it highly anticipated.

It seems right that Delve Deeper should join in the fun. Therefore, we have got together with some of our friends and will be hosting an event at Harrisons (formerly known as the Ivory), just up from The Lounge, West St, Just a very short stroll from the main stage on Devonshire Green.

The line up is as follows:

Delve Deeper co-creators Liam C and Jenny Fu
Daniel Evans (Evans & Waterfall, Viva Music)
Duncan Allott (Seven Hills Soul Boys)
